For over the past year, probably close to 2 years now every morning starts about the same. It's like Ground Hog Day. Get up, workout, shower, get ready and hurry upstairs to cook my 4 egg whites and 40 grams of oatmeal. It's the way to start the day. It's good for your heart. Eggs whites are a pure protein so they help muscles heal after a workout. Eggs and oatmeal are cheap. Oh, there are lots of good reasons.
Personally, I like my eggs in an omelet. Spray the pan with a little Pam, separate the eggs and you're good to go. On special days, like Sunday, you get a little cheese added in. It's delicious. With the eggs I get 40 grams of oatmeal. 40 grams, no more, no less. This turns into a bit of a game with the food scale. It's taken me a long time to perfect getting 40 on the first try, but I've almost perfected it. It's only taken a year. Wash it down with a half cup of orange juice and I'm off for another day.
One more thought... If you do the math of 4 eggs a day for 365 days a year it's a lot of eggs. If you do the math, it's 1460 eggs (over 121 dozen) just for me. It's like the lady in the grocery store once said, "That's a lot of eggs!" And that's no yolk...

Just turn the car off!
This week I had the pleasure of driving one of these cars to Logan and back for work. It wasn't my first experience in driving a Prius. No, it was my second...I was experienced, or so I thought. The Prius belongs to the motor pool. Now the first time I took this car, I got a little driving lesson from the car pool man on how to turn it on and off, how not to expect any noise at a stop light unless the air conditioner is on because the car is silent, how to put the car in gear and how to take it out of gear. How the break needs to be pressed in order for the car to start when you push the "power" button. How there is no key, just a thing you keep in your pocket or bag. These were all very useful instructions. Now fast forward to this week. I had experience, right? No lesson necessary for me because I'd driven this thing before. Starting the car and getting it in gear were no problem. Off I went. The problem arose when I needed to turn it off. That's when the difference between the "power" button and the "park" button become very dim. You see, both start with "P", and both are relatively close together. Do you see where I'm headed? I just figured when I saw the "P" for Park, it meant power., it wouldn't turn the dumb thing off... Bottom line is, it wasn't anything the owners manual couldn't explain... duh!

Just get in there....I mean it!
So I feel pretty strongly about this. If you are due for your mammo, it's time to get in there and get it done. Since running Wasatch Back not too many weeks ago, one of the women on our team was diagnosed with breast cancer. So hard to believe and yet, thankfully, she has been diligent about getting an annual mammo. They think everything was caught in time. She's strong, fit, and will beat it. Just like so many other brave women.... My Mom, for instance, is a survivor of 30 plus years. Now, call and make your appointment. Just mentally prepare and you'll do just fine.Wednesday, May 26, 2010
And the winner is...

Michael. Way to go. Quite the transformation... I have to say I didn't like him much at the first of the season, but he did win me over. And I'm happy for Ashley also. For a while I didn't think she would make it. The Red Team was still full of it when Melissa said it was never about the money. What a bunch of bunk! I don't think Bob and Jillian believed her either; and what an attitude. I find the show entertaining and inspiring to see people tranform and find themselves. Okay, enough of this. The season is over.

The Finale

Our house has been faithfully watching this season of the Biggest Looser every Tuesday night. Now it's down to the finale and I sure hope the right person wins.... Logically, it should be pink or white since they have the most pounds left to loose. I hope it's not gray. He is way to into it for the money and won't keep his weight off long term. Daris, of the orange team, would be alright. One comment about him. He ran his first marathon faster than any of the ones I've run so I can't slam him too hard. And it's not his fault he has a stupid name. So really, anyone but gray. That's my vote and I'm sticking to it.

It's March 4th.......Ark Day!
March 4th is a special day. Just ask my Dad and he will tell you one of his all time favorite annual jokes. He will say, "do you know what today is?" You say, "What's today?" He says today is "Ark Day, the day Noah told all the animals to ...........drum roll please......... March 4th! The family all celebrates this day, thanks to my Dad.So family, I'm curious...what are you doing today to celebrate? How many people will you tell this little bit of trivia? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Wii starring Sylvia, Doris and Birdie

Sylvia, Doris (snoozing) and Birdie (snoozing)Since around December 1st those living at my house have been thoroughly entertained by the Wii Fit Plus. There is really no other word for it except entertainment. See, I sit on the couch and laugh at Sylvia. Sylvia sits on the couch and laughs at me, Doris. We both think the dog named Birdie who follows each of us around is pretty funny too. Who knew it could be so much fun?
Sylvia has her specialties such as the obstacle course, table tilt, the human calculator game, and kung fu. I'm pretty good at the bubble going down the river game, hula hoop, and kung fu. All in all, we have a good time. It can also be a pretty good workout. Some times it makes Sylvia say bad words., but I don't think I should elaborate on this one...

Moving Mountains (or Boulders)
The Time: Recently at 5:15 a.m.
The Place: Millcreek Canyon
The Target: The Boulder in the Middle of the Road up Fever
It was big, it was heavy and it was a hazard for anyone coming by in a car, on a bike, or running and not paying attention. I'm sure we saved someone's life that morning because we are strong warrior women who moved the big boulder out of the road. It was not a rock, it was bigger than that.
I went back to take a picture a couple of days later and the road crew had already moved it. Sorry, no photo. Just let your imagination run with this one. It took us about 10 minutes and we were all wondering why we were sore the next couple of days. I'd like to think of it as an act of service prior to 5:30 in the morning. So now the question is, do we "rock" or "boulder?"

The Safari

At Animal Kingdom we did the Safari Ride. It was one of my favorites, only because I dream of one day really going on a real African Safari. We rode in the big Disney safari jeeps and spotted several of the animals who reside on the animal reserve. The hippo pictured above is how I felt Sunday night after completing the Goofy and closing down Hollywood Studios at the Victory Lap Party.
